My name is Caroline Austin and I am a senior majoring in Marketing with a minor in Theatre, I have lived in Alexandria, VA since I was three years old. I want to go into performing arts administration after I graduate. I have been involved in theatre for as long as I can remember. I want to go into financial development as it supports the art without having to be the one making the art. This summer I was an the summer development intern at Arena Stage in Southwest DC. I had the time of my life and would love to work there again after graduation. I’m specifically interested in commercial musical theatre (think Disney’s The Lion King or the Spongebob Musical). I believe that commercial theatre makes the theatre approachable and allows children at a young age to become engaged with the arts. I am also passionate about the equality of representation of women in theatre, whether on or off the stage. When I’m back home during breaks, I volunteer at Ford’s Theatre, and the USO. At the USO, I work with soldiers in the Warrior Transition Unit as well as children of deployed families.
